Here at Britelite the discussion of what inspires us comes up daily. We storyboard, we mood board, we even pinterest, and we are always looking to our great community of digital artist to help propel our ideation process. Straight from the Britelite creative team, here are 3 digital artist that we love…

Chelley Sherman

This local artist from San Francisco can really flex some artistic muscles in many mediums, but of course mostly in our extrinsic range of digital - ”Her practice consists of experiments in extended realities, virtual and augmented, as well as interactive sound installations and AV performances. Using computational methods and researching cognitive processes of perception, she explores the relationship between light and sound and resulting psychoacoustic effects in spatial sonic architectures and landscapes.” Versatile to say the least and uniquely amazing in spirit and artistic aptitude to say the most, her works have been presented all over the U.S. and in many publications such as Creators Project, Forbes, Wired, TechCrunch, and BBC Radio. If you are lucky you maybe able to catch a lecture from her as well, but in the meantime, take a look at some of her work.

404.zero

The artistic duo 404.zero is described as a pure generative art collective. Featuring two artist Aleksandr Letsius and Kristina Karpysheva, in 2016 the two artists joined together to create projects that could push the meaning of clarity to the limits in terms of modern generative art. Kristina, a media artist/designer, has been actively making installations and audiovisual performances. The other half Alexander is the co-founder of Tundra collective which produce large-scale audio-visual installations. 404.zero is versatile and pure aesthetics in the nature of producing generative art in the delivery of many mediums and scale, and did I mention they have a soundcloud account.

Memo Akten

Memo Akten popped on our radar from Gray Area Art + Tech - We're looking forward to hearing about his exploration of the world and human nature through AR, VR, and XR at Gray Area Festival July 25 – 28. Working with algorithms and custom software he combines critical and conceptual approaches with investigations into form, movement and sound.

Akten is a strong supporter of open-source software and many of his open-source tools and libraries are used globally. He is one of the core contributors to the openFrameworks project, and he gives lectures and workshops around the world. In 2007 he founded The Mega Super Awesome Visuals Company (MSA Visuals), a creative studio spanning art and technology. In 2011, with two new partners this evolved into Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF). In 2014, after a string of hugely successful, influential and large scale projects, Memo left MLF to focus on personal work, collaborations and research. Bold, open and giving in his work, we are always excited to see what he does next…

Inspiration Sensations is a new series we are kicking off to pay tribute to artist, creators, curators and more. We feel it is important to recognize the progress and innovators in our community and we hope it brings awareness to the scope of interest the Britelite team has! We are looking to you to name the next artist we should feature.

We recently had a panel discussion on more of what inspires us at Britelite called “Pulling off the Impossible Takes More Than Conceptual Thinking”. Attendees heard from Britelite’s team about how we got where we are, our favorite projects, how we convince our clients of the value of experience design, and how we deliver results. We wrote a blog about it, give it a read: /blog/britelite-at-sfdw/
